A Painting To Die For
David L. Tucker
In A Painting to Die For, where art world meets underworld, the question is not what is fake, but who is genuine? Bill, a struggling Toronto artist, is drawn into a world of art fraud, money laundering, and murder when his uncle convinces him to go to England to check on his estranged daughter. When Bill finds his cousin, and former childhood crush, all grown-up and running a posh Mayfair Gallery, he thinks he’s gone to heaven.
Or has he really landed in hell?
David Tucker paints a vivid portrait of glamour and greed with a sly touch of humour. A Painting to Die For is a page-turner that keeps you wondering what's really going on right until the end.

I enjoyed it very much. Really, I had a hard time putting it down to head for bed. Found myself reading it after midnight. A good sign. The ending was a real cliff dropper. Very exciting and unexpected.
Descriptions were beautifully detailed, precise and cinematic. I really sunk into the world of London art
galleries. I talked about the book at our local book club today and one person has already signed up.

What a brilliant book this was. I was gripped from the start and couldn't wait to get back to it. I finished it a week ago sadly, and I'm still thinking about it.

A new classic??...the the words run like squeezed lemon over dark chocolate 🙂

This was a fun ride. The beginning is like a foreign film, a layering of rich sensory details while you climb the first hill of the roller coaster. Once you crest the hill, the downhill run has some fun twists and reveals. It is also a fascinating way to explore current political and ethical issues in the contemporary art world.

Great book. Well written. Kept me turning the pages til the end. Would like to read another by the same author, a follow up?
